MEET THE TEAM

  Melody Lothridge
  Melody Lothridge

Welcome to Mountain Laurel Farm.  I'm Melody the owner and creative director and the youngest daughter of Jerry and Shirley Lothridge. I am the proud mother of my 21 year old daughter named Whitney. My family and I moved to the farm when I was just a little girl of three years old. Coming back to the farm as an adult has been very enlightening and given me a new prospective on this beautiful area and purpose.  I've had various experiences and have been so fortunate enough to travel to many parts of the world...However,  I find Mountain Laurel Farm to be one of the prettiest... if not the most beautiful place on earth.  After visiting many Inns during my travels and speaking with the innkeepers (mostly retired couples)-I decided that I would really enjoy this line of work and opted to do it now rather than waiting until I retired.  The Farm Bed and Breakfast opened in the fall of 2014 and the best thing about being an innkeeper is the guests! I love meeting new and interesting people, (and seeing previous guests return), and I feel like I have made so many new friends since starting this business. I've discovered that B&B people are just the very best kind of people!  While working with the US State Department, hosting various events, I began to love all things related to putting on large and small scale events.  And naturally our setting here at the farm is truly and unique and perfect setting for indoor/outdoor weddings. My goal is for this to be your best day ever in a relaxed and laid back environment with family and friends and allow my team and I to plan all the details for you.  I want to welcome you to come and share in our home and property and enjoy it as much as we have, as you get away from your own busy life. Come rest, relax and be pampered while you enjoy the good country life here at Mountain Laurel Farm. I hope you will enjoy your stay with us and I will do my best to make sure of it.

My childhood was largely revolved around traveling so my story begins in a small town called Eschenbach in der oberpfalz Germany where I was born. From there my family began a new start in the U.S. in North Carolina. In my teens we were living in Virginia.
Soon after high school I took  culinary classes and from there my career branched off to working as the Resident Chef for Williams Sonoma in Georgia.
Not long after an opportunity to be a featured chef on Atlanta & Co for 11Alive NBC cooking segment happened.
In 2016 Spelman College invited me to be a guest speaker and be on the Creative Panel for experts in their creative field and mine being culinary.
After a career of working my way up in corporate food service in Virginia, Washington DC, and Atlanta,GA I have found a hidden gem in the quiet, picturesque countryside of Cleveland, GA at Mountain Laurel Farm.  My culinary aesthetic is largely inspired by farm to table French country cooking.

I have a love for all things wedding!  With a degree from KSU in Fine Art I can use my meticulous eye to perfect all your wedding décor and details.  I specialize in wedding coordination and partial planning with professional support the months and weeks leading up to your wedding day.
I have worked at countless premier event facilities in Atlanta and North Georgia in the past 10 years.  With experience in client correspondence, venue marketing, to being the Director of Sales and Coordination at a North Georgia venue handling all client contact from the initial inquiry, through planning, private tastings, décor design, rehearsal, and coordinating each wedding.
On the personal side, I am a huge animal person and nature lover.  I love spending time riding my two horses or hiking with my two dogs in the North Georgia mountains.  I grew up in Roswell and spent countless hours frequenting downtown Roswell and countless local parks.
My husband and I celebrated the birth of our first child, Whitley, in February of 2018.  She is absolutely the joy of my life!
If I had to describe my personal wedding style I would consider it timeless, classic, and elegant.

Becoming engaged is one of the most exciting times in a couple’s life and I am here to help make sure it stays that way from the moment you say “Yes!” to the day you say “I Do!”. I was also a bride here and got married June 4th, 2016. Although we have only been married for two years my husband and I have been together for seven years since I was eighteen and we have one beautiful little boy named Noah who is a year and a half. I have had the wonderful opportunity to pursue my dream of being a wedding coordinator here and have fallen in love with this beautiful place and the entire team here and truly don’t believe there is a more serene or beautiful venue in the entire state than right here at Mountain Laurel Farm.

Being in the wedding and event planning industry has always been a passion of mine. I believe planning and coordinating one of the most important days of a couple's life is such an exciting and important opportunity! My goal as a wedding coordinator is to make sure that your wedding day and all of the planning leading up to it goes as smooth as possible so that your dream wedding turns into a reality. Helping guide couples through this very special time is what I love to do and the beautiful outcome of the work put into each wedding is so rewarding to me. Once again, congratulations and I look forward to working with you here at Mountain Laurel Farm.
